Beauty: Sunkissed, Dewy Makeup Routine

A couple months ago I started noticing my face looked orange in all my pictures. It's probably something that's been going on for awhile. But having this blog, I have to look at a lot more pictures of myself. I couldn't help but notice. I have used Bare Minerals Warmth for over 10 years. I've never used foundation because I think it makes me look like a ghost. But as I'm getting older, I have more sun spots and discoloration than before. So, I needed more coverage. I started using more of the Bare Minerals Warmth to try and get more coverage, but that's not what it's made for. So, recently I decided to mix it up and try something new. My Mother's Day present was new makeup. Thanks Daniel!

The sun kissed dewy look I was going for
The first night out with my new face

Let me start by saying I have very dry skin ... like a desert. My skin peels if I don't put lotion on twice a day. And probably because of that, I love a very moisturized look. So I went to Sephora and was helped by a makeup wizard, Jen. I told her I wanted a sun kissed, dewy look. She knew exactly the look I was going for and recommended products I love!

I had heard so much about this bronzer but never bought it because I thought it was too expensive. Well, Jen told me this was the best there was so I tried it. She was right. It gives you a sunkissed look without looking orange. I have been using it a couple months now and it still looks new. It's going to last forever. I also tried this bronzer. It is a cream bronzer so it gives you the dewy look and is so easy to apply. Just watch the video on the website. I'm definitely adding it to the collection.

I thought I wanted to start wearing foundation, so Jen recommended this foundation. It was great and did exactly what I had asked. It gave me more coverage and made me look moisturized. It is made with argon oil, so it provides a lot of moisture. However, I decided it still made me look like a ghost. The shade was spot on, but I'm just not used to that much makeup. So, I returned it and ended up with this primer. It is amazing! It's like using an airbrush filter. It evens out your skin tone and gives you a beautiful glow. I highly recommend it!. (By the way, Sephora has an amazing return policy where you can use a product a couple times and still return it if it doesn't work out.)

I wear the shade 'Perk'

Next was the blush. Jen told me she used Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek all day, everyday. It's not a powder so it doesn't look dry. It also gives you a glow and is the perfect peachy pink shade. I wear the shade Perk. I have also tried Charlotte Tilbury's Highlighter Blush and it is amazing! It gives you a J. Lo glow! It's not for an everyday look but great for a night out. And if you really want the J. Lo look combine this contour wand and this highlighter with the blush highlighter and you will have it!

My biggest problem is my dark circles under my eyes. I used MAC concealer for as long as I can remember. It works well to hide the circles but I wanted a little more coverage. I had heard that Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away concealer (I use shade 3) was amazing, so I tried it. I do like it. It does cover well and the applicator tip is a sponge, so you don't need anything extra. This is the drug store version and gets great reviews. But when i say my circles are bad I mean they are BAD. So I use this concealer (shade light nude) in the corner of my eyes. It covers really well! It brightens the corner of your eyes and makes your eyes look bigger. But this is the holy grail of concealers! I just got mine this weekend and if you saw my stories, you know it is the best thing I've ever used. It completely gets rid of my dark circles. If you don't believe me just look at my before and after picture. The only difference between the two is the under eye concealer (shade light neutral)!

I still haven't started using eyeshadow, and I wear the same eye liner and mascara I have for years.

I found this drug store mascara a few years back and use it everyday. It works almost as well as the Estee Lauder kind but the tube just doesn't last as long.

MAC is 'Kinda Sexy' and Gloss is 'Creme Brulee'

For lips I used MAC lipstick with a gloss on top. It combines to make the perfect pink/peach nude.

The last thing I use is this face mist. I love it! It gives you a dewy look and makes your makeup last all day. Jen gave me some samples of their moisturizer, and it is amazing! If you have really dry skin this skin care line is for you. I also use this mist for a glowy look. It works well and makes your skin look smooth and youthful.
